Another NFL Domestic Violence Incident

Kareem Hunt was well-known for his accomplishments as a Running-back for the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team, but now his reputation has been tarnished by hotel video surveillance that pictures him pushing a 19-year-old woman to the ground and later kicking her in the stomach. In the video, he is the clear aggressor. The surveillance video went on for a around a minute long, showing viewers the multiple opportunities Hunt had to walk away from the situation with the physical and verbal encouragement to do so by his entourage. Hunt is one of the greatest athletes in the NFL which puts his under the microscope of the public. With that said, Hunt is admired by millions across the country, but this behavior cannot be tolerated. Domestic Violence in the NFL has a long gruesome history. Numerous players have been suspended for domestic violence incidents. Incidents that resulted in incredibly traumatic injuries for the victims. For example, Chris Cook left his girlfriend bloodied after strangling her in 2011 and was suspended for an entire season. Likewise, Ezekiel Elliott was charged with violation of the league’s conduct policy when his ex-girlfriend released photos of bruises all over her body that came from Elliot’s abuse – he received a 6-game suspension. These are just few of many. Despite Kareem Hunts undeniable, the Kansas City Chiefs indefinitely dropped him to waivers. Only time will tell to see whether another team will pick him up and cover his rookie contract, despite the fact he will be facing a long suspension.
